Urge Councilor Novick to support Candace Avalos for Council President!
Dear Readers,
The council is currently in recess after two rounds of voting for the council president, both of which ended in a tie. The candidates are the super progressive, experienced, and qualified Councilor Candace Avalos and the more moderate-leaning Olivia Clark, who has very little experience that I can see with local government. I’m very disappointed that Councilor Novick is supporting Clark, and believe he is the only possible swing vote. Please contact his office IMMEDIATELY and let him know who you support!

It feels like the left always fragments and caves into the center/right; and the right wing always stays united. - There was stark contrast in support statements for Avalos ( factual qualifications and historical examples) versus right wing vague adjectives to describe Clark. I noticed Smith making the most vague supportive statements in favor of her choices including "tells the truth" (as if Avalos did not tell the truth) - It is interesting that Clark hired Rubio staff; and I wonder if Megan Byer was involved in the Zenith back door deal that Rubio told me "never happened". It's also obvious and ironic that Novick is leaning more neo lib by hiring Spencer Knowles as his aide; Knowles worked hard to kill charter reform and promote Sam Adams.
