It feels like the left always fragments and caves into the center/right; and the right wing always stays united. - There was stark contrast in support statements for Avalos ( factual qualifications and historical examples) versus right wing vague adjectives to describe Clark. I noticed Smith making the most vague supportive statements in favor of her choices including "tells the truth" (as if Avalos did not tell the truth) - It is interesting that Clark hired Rubio staff; and I wonder if Megan Byer was involved in the Zenith back door deal that Rubio told me "never happened". It's also obvious and ironic that Novick is leaning more neo lib by hiring Spencer Knowles as his aide; Knowles worked hard to kill charter reform and promote Sam Adams.
It was difficult to watch Councilor Smith disrespect City Attorney Robert Taylor in her ill-informed attempt to involve the Mayor in the vote, when it was clearly not appropriate.
Agreed.. Smith could have invited an attorney to speak or submit. We must be able to challenge the city attorney with opinions from Lawyers from the National Lawyers Guild and and ACLU. I have gone to many city hall meetings where I appreciate you, Chloe , challenged the city Attorney with backup from the most trusted lawyers in a democracy.

Oops, Pirtle-Guiney was elected in the end. Another positive outcome IMO
